The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Delta State, Chief Great Ogboru, has taken the party’s 2027 election campaign to Isoko land, promising economic recovery, job creation and improved living conditions if elected.
Ogboru made the pledge on Saturday at a mega rally in Oyede, Isoko North Local Government Area, where the party unveiled its candidates for the Isoko Federal Constituency and other elective positions.
He said an ADC-led government would address what he described as years of bad governance and underdevelopment through economic regeneration, wealth creation, infrastructure development and improved security.
“Change is coming to Nigeria, and it is going to be led by the ADC. Enough is enough of bad governance. I have brought the message of the ADC to Isoko land,” he said.
Ogboru promised that an ADC-led Federal Government would reintroduce fuel subsidy but redirect it towards production to reduce petroleum costs and stimulate economic activities.
He also pledged to invest in the oil and gas sector, particularly in the Niger Delta, and revive moribund seaports across the state to create jobs and expand opportunities in the transportation sector.
On Delta State, he promised to strengthen local government administration, improve security, promote environmental sanitation and empower residents through wealth creation.
Earlier, the Delta ADC Chairman, George Timinimi, described the party as the country’s major opposition platform and urged residents to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the elections.
The Chairman of the ADC Campaign Council in the state, Chief Tony Ezeagwu, commended the people of Isoko for the turnout and expressed confidence in the party’s chances in 2027.
He urged supporters to participate actively in the electoral process and protect their votes.
The party’s House of Representatives candidate for Isoko Federal Constituency, Chief Othuke Otunumeruke, also advocated the return of fuel subsidy and revival of seaports to stimulate economic activities and create employment.
Other candidates unveiled included Blessing Ogbodokpo for Isoko South Constituency I; Hon. Hope Ejime for Isoko North Constituency I; Apostle Paul Edere for Isoko South Constituency II; and Hon. Obaro Unuafe for Isoko North Constituency II.
The candidates pledged effective representation if elected and declared support for Ogboru’s governorship ambition.
The Director-General of the ADC Campaign Council, Chief Peter Omaruaye, expressed confidence that the 2027 election would provide Ogboru an opportunity to realise his governorship ambition.
Similarly, Dr Leo Ebinum urged party members to strengthen the ADC’s structures ahead of the elections, describing 2027 as a year of liberation.
The party’s Publicity Secretary, Fred Akpewe, dismissed claims that Ogboru was working for another political interest.
He urged supporters to remain committed to the ADC.
Members of the Arewa community also appealed to residents to support the party and its candidates, while some Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members defected to the ADC at the rally.
The Isoko mega rally forms part of the party’s efforts to strengthen its grassroots structures and mobilise support across Delta State ahead of the 2027 general polls.
