2027: Okowa throws weight behind Tinubu’s re-election
By our reporter
Former Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has thrown his weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid, urging Nigerians to give him another four years to consolidate his policies and ongoing development projects.
Okowa made the call on Saturday at the flag-off of the APC South-South campaign in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, declaring that Tinubu had earned a second term through his policies and vision for a new Nigeria.
He urged voters to troop out en masse in 2027 to secure victory for Tinubu and other APC candidates at all levels.
Okowa, a two-term former governor and current APC candidate for Delta North Senatorial District, said he was satisfied with his decision, alongside Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, to defect from the opposition PDP to the APC after seeing the credible policies and programmes of the President aimed at reshaping the nation’s economy.
“You all know that in 2023 I was in another ticket but I have seen the light and I have seen what Mr President is doing for Nigeria.
“It is the right thing to be done and I have, along with my governor, long ago crossed to the APC to join hands with Mr President, because he is truly building a new Nigeria.”
Okowa said the South-South must not be left behind in the Tinubu re-election movement, insisting that the region has benefited from the President’s reforms and infrastructure drive.
He called on party faithful, supporters and undecided voters in the South-South to unite behind Tinubu and the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
