As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections gather momentum, former Delta State Governor and the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Delta North, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has moved to strengthen the communication machinery of his senatorial campaign.

To this extent, Okowa has appointed two veteran journalists, Olisa Ifeajika and Dr Norbert Chiazor, as his campaign media directors.

The appointments place the two experienced journalists at the forefront of the media and communications operations of the Senator Ifeanyi Okowa Senatorial Campaign Council.

Under the arrangement, Ifeajika will serve as Director of Media and Communications, while Chiazor has been appointed Assistant Director.

The appointments are expected to bring their wealth of journalistic experience to bear on the campaign council’s media engagement and communication activities ahead of the 2027 elections.

The appointments were contained in a list signed by the Director-General of the campaign organisation, Hon. Pascal Adigwe.

The two journalism collosus are expected to coordinate the campaign council’s media operations, including communication strategy, reputation management, advocacy and media relations.

Ifeajika, a former Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), served as Chief Press Secretary to former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, from 2019 to 2023.

He has over three decades of experience in journalism and media management and is a member of the Nigerian Guild of Editors.

Similarly, Chiazor served in the Okowa administration as Executive Assistant on Media.
Chiazor is a former Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, and has more than three decades of experience in broadcast, print and online journalism.

He also holds a doctorate in Mass Communication.

The appointments underscore the campaign council’s move to draw on the professional experience, media networks and institutional knowledge of the two journalists as political activities ahead of the 2027 senatorial election gather momentum.
