The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State has set a target of securing more than two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori in the 2027 general elections.
It urged party leaders and members to intensify grassroots mobilisation across the state.
The target was announced during the party’s campaign flag-off rallies in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, and Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area, where prominent political leaders rallied supporters and charged them to work towards electoral victory at all levels.
Former Delta State Governor and Senator representing Delta North, Ifeanyi Okowa, challenged party members to ensure the APC delivered the targeted votes.
He stressed the need for unity, commitment and effective mobilisation ahead of the elections.
Governor Oborevwori, who addressed supporters at the rallies, said his defection to the APC followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders and was informed by the need to align Delta State with the Federal Government to accelerate development.
He urged Deltans to support Tinubu’s re-election bid, citing the President’s economic reforms, which he said had increased revenue allocations to state and local governments and strengthened their capacity to execute development projects.
The governor revealed that 17,500 Delta students had benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), urging other eligible students to take advantage of the scheme.
He also announced that the State Executive Council had approved the construction of divisional police headquarters across the 25 local government areas, in anticipation of the proposed establishment of state police.
Appealing to the Isoko people to support APC candidates, Oborevwori urged them to demonstrate solidarity with his wife, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, who hails from Isoko North.
His wife, who addressed supporters at the Ozoro rally, also appealed to the people to vote for Tinubu, her husband and other APC candidates, describing the ballot as a powerful instrument of political expression.
Deputy Governor Monday Onyeme and APC State Chairman, Chief Solomon Arenyeka, called on party members to sustain their support for the administration and work towards victory for the party’s candidates.
Arenyeka presented party flags to candidates contesting the Delta South Senatorial District, Isoko Federal Constituency and the four Isoko State House of Assembly constituencies.
Director-General of the Delta APC Campaign Council, Senator James Manager, acknowledged the economic challenges confronting Nigerians but urged them to remain hopeful, expressing confidence in the Federal Government’s reform agenda.
The APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, expressed satisfaction with the massive turnout at the rallies, which he likened to the party’s national campaign.
Also speaking, Chief Solomon Ogba identified the proposed Federal Medical Centre in Oleh and the planned dualisation of the Oleh Roundabout-Iyede Road as major development prospects for the Isoko area.
Other political leaders at the rallies included former Delta APC governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor; Chief Ovuozourie Macaulay; Ovie Umuakpor; Hon. Itiako Ikpokpo; Hon. Oviemuno Oghoore; Hon. Julius Pondi and Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu.
The party leadership urged candidates and supporters to take the mobilisation drive to their respective constituencies, wards and polling units, as the APC steps up preparations for the 2027 general elections.
