The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected criminals in separate operations in Agbarho and Oghara, recovering six firearms, four live cartridges, 10 expended cartridges and other suspected criminal exhibits.

The arrests, according to the police spokesman ASP Bright Edafe, involved suspected cultists and individuals allegedly linked to armed robbery and other violent crimes.

He said in the first operation on November 4, 2026, operatives of the Command Anti-Cultism Unit (CACU), Sector 3, Ovwian-Aladja, arrested a 34-year-old suspect, Akpoghene Goodluck, along the Agbarho-Warri Expressway.

The police spokesman said Goodluck attracted the attention of the operatives when he allegedly attempted to evade them during a patrol.

Edafe said a search of the premises where he was apprehended led to the recovery of two locally fabricated firearms and 10 expended cartridges.

He stated: “Further investigation led to the arrest of another suspect, 50-year-old Solomon Arhugberume James, at whose residence operatives recovered a pump-action gun and a live cartridge.

“The two suspects claimed to be members of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security outfit but could not produce identification to substantiate their claims.”

In a separate operation, Edafe said operatives of the Oghara Police Division arrested a 23-year-old suspected cultist, Clinton Awuerowswo, alias Clinbaby, on October 23, 2026.

The police spokesman said the suspect had been on the run following the recovery of firearms from his residence on March 23, 2026.

“Items recovered during the operation included a Beretta pistol, two locally made cut-to-size guns, three live cartridges, a battle axe and a jackknife”, he said.

Edafe said preliminary investigations indicated that Awuerowswo admitted ownership of the weapons and membership of the Eiye confraternity.

He said investigations into the cases were ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, Samuel Erale, warned against cultism and the unlawful possession of firearms, restating the command’s resolve to sustain operations against criminal groups.

He urged residents to provide credible information to the police, assuring them that the identities of informants would be treated confidentially.
